Whole Team compared with Spond
Checked on 10 October 2026, from Spond's own pages.
What Spond does well
Its reach. Spond is the one most parents have already got on their phone, and that counts for a lot when you are trying to get a whole club onto something.
What a £100 card payment costs a club
| Monthly charge | Fees on £100 by card | Total on £100 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whole Team | £0 | our 1% £1.00 + Stripe £1.70 | £2.70 |
| Spond | £0 (a club website is £19 + VAT a month) | 2.5% + 20p | £2.70 |
Every row is the same question: £100 is paid by card, and this is what it costs the club. Whole Team can also be set the other way, with the family paying the fee line — then the club receives the whole £100 and the family pays £102.74.
Figures from each company's own page on 10 October 2026. Where a company publishes its rate as a minimum, the word "from" is theirs. If we've got one wrong, tell us at hello@wholeteam.co.uk and we'll fix it.
The four things we do differently
- No direct messages. None, of any kind. Talk happens in a team's chat and in event threads, where the team's adults can see it.
- Faces are blurred on the phone before a photo is shared. A child appears unblurred only where every one of their guardians has said yes.
- The money goes into the club's own account, and our fee is shown as its own line to whoever pays it.
- Nothing to pay to use it. No monthly charge, no tier to buy, no contract, no notice period.
