Finding your way around

Every signed-in page has one column on the left: the tree.

  • The tree: the Whole Team mark, your club, then the eight sections - Home, Teams, People, Season, Money, Cup, Coaching and Club - each with a coloured dot (green for the club, blue for the cup, red for coaching). At its foot is your initial, which opens your account.
  • The section you're in is open, with its pages listed under it. A section with named things (Teams, and the competitions your club runs under Cup) lists them by name.

The sections differ from person to person: each lists only what you can do at this club, so a parent sees a short tree and a club admin a long one. If a section isn't there, it isn't yours to use.

Home

The Whole Team mark opens Home. For someone who runs the club it is This week at the club:

  • Four numbers across the top: families, answered for the next match day, owed (gold, never green), photos this week. Each is a link to the page that owns it; a number that can't be computed is left out, never shown as zero.
  • Needs you: the club's open loops, most urgent first, six at most, each with its action beside it - an event this week with no venue, families owing, invites not accepted, a coach's check due, a team with no coach. Nothing open says "Nothing needs you. The week is below."
  • Quick: Invite someone, Add an event, Message the club, Export members, each a drawer.
  • The week, by team: the next seven days, grouped by day. A row opens the event; a missing venue is in red.

A person with no admin hat gets their own week: the events for their teams and their children's, with a name against each.

Move between sections and pages

  1. Choose a section in the tree. Its first page opens and its pages are listed under it.
  2. Choose a page. The page you're on is shaded.
  3. A link to a page opens in the right place: Money › To chase opens with Money open and To chase lit.

Every page is the same shape

The breadcrumb, the title, one line under it, and one primary button at the right. Tabs where a section has views (Season: Events · Calendar · Venues; Money: Overview · To chase · Subs · Ways to pay · All payments; Coaching: Playbook · Sessions · Rota · Fairness · Rules; a competition: Entries · Draw · Schedule · Map · Pack · Scores · Public page). A toolbar with search, filters and a count. The list scrolls inside the page, so the header never moves. Whenever something needs filling in, a drawer opens beside the list - Invite someone, Add a series, Add a plan, a person's hats - and the list stays where it was. Escape or the × closes it.

If you hold more than one role, you see everything each role gives you.

Your account

  1. Choose your initial at the foot of the tree.
  2. Choose Your family and profile, Digest and notifications, Inbox, Sign-in and devices, Your data, Help or Talk to us. Sign out is at the bottom.

Change club

If you belong to more than one club, the club at the top of the tree is a list. Choose another club and the portal opens it. Home always shows the club you used last.

On a phone

  1. Tap Menu at the top.
  2. The sections are listed one under another, then your name. Tap one to open it.
  3. Choose a page. The list closes by itself. A drawer opens as a full sheet.

The app is different on purpose

The Whole Team app keeps its four tabs at the bottom (Home, Events, Inbox, You) and a chip for choosing which of your children you're looking at. The portal has no child switcher: Home and Season list everyone's events together, with a name against each.

With a keyboard

  1. Tab to the tree. Up and Down move between the sections and your account; Enter opens one.
  2. Tab again to move into the open section's pages. Up and Down move through them.
  3. Escape takes you back to the tree, or closes a drawer.

Good to know

  • On the diagram editor the tree stays; the drawing takes the rest.
  • A club's colours tint the background of that club's own pages only.
  • When you're given a new role, your next digest says so once, for example "You can now run competitions for Kingsway RFC."
