A child playing in another band

Most children play in the band their age puts them in. Some do not, and that is normal: a governing body gives a dispensation, a club bio-bands, a girls' pathway spans two bands at once, or the club simply decides that this child is better off with that group this season.

Whole Team records which band a child plays in, and why. It shows as a plain line on the roster and beside their name on the team sheet: plays in U12 (dispensation). It is never a warning and never red, because it is not a problem to be fixed. It is an arrangement somebody made on purpose, written down so the next coach knows.

Record it

  1. Open the team's roster and find the child.
  2. Choose Set which band they play in.
  3. Pick the band, then say which arrangement it is:
    • Plays in this band instead of their own, or also eligible for this band as well as their own.
    • Governing body dispensation, bio-banding, club decision, or something else.
  4. If you chose something else, say what it is. The next person to read the roster sees your words, and "we agreed" six months ago tells them nothing.
  5. Save. Only club admins can do this; a coach cannot decide it for their own team.

What changes

  • The roster and every team sheet say which band that child plays in.
  • The team sheet for that band offers them, whether or not they are on that team's roster, marked so a coach can see they are playing up or down.
  • Their own team keeps them. This does not move a child; it says where they may play.

What we keep

Every change is kept. Changing the reason ends the old record and starts a new one, so the roster can always show who decided what, and when. Nothing is deleted, by anybody, including club admins, because next season somebody will ask why a child was playing up and the answer has to still be there.

Ending it

Choose They play in their own band again on the roster. The old record stays as history; the line stops showing.
