Signing in by text

If your club has your mobile number, you can sign in with a code we text you instead of one we email. It is the quickest way in on a phone, and it is there for the people who are at a ground rather than at a desk.

How it works

  1. Go to app.wholeteam.co.uk and enter your mobile number.
  2. Choose Text me a code.
  3. Type the six digits and you are in.

Codes are sent to UK mobile numbers only, and they last ten minutes. Ask for another if one goes astray; the old one stops working as soon as a new one is sent.

What a text code opens, and what it does not

A text code opens your own week: your events, your children, saying who is in or out, your club's chat, your own profile. That is the whole of it for most people, most of the time.

A few things ask for your email code as well, and the screen says so and takes you straight to it:

  • setting a club up, or changing its settings, its money or its roles
  • a child's emergency contact and the note a coach should know
  • the club's safeguarding register

This is not us being awkward. A phone can be picked up off a table; the second code means the things that matter most need two different ways of reaching you, not one. It takes about twenty seconds and you are put back exactly where you were.

If you would rather not give a number

You do not have to. Sign in with a code we email instead — it always works, and nothing is closed to you for it, except the two jobs that need a club to be able to reach you: running a team and being a club's main contact.

What we do with your number

Your mobile number is used to sign you in by text, and is shown to the club's coaches, team managers and leadership as the person to call if something happens. Nobody else can see it.

The text itself goes through Twilio, who send it and nothing else; we hold your number as a hash in the record of codes we have sent, never as the number itself. There is more in the privacy notice.
