The tea hut till, on match day

You're on the hatch this Saturday. This is everything you need: open the till on your phone, ring things up, take the money, and give a receipt if someone wants one.

Open the till

In the app, Home shows a Tea hut tile on a day you're on the rota: tap Open the till. On the website it's Club › Tea hut › Open the till ›.

The till opens for the club's tea hut team, the treasurer and the admins, and for anyone on that day's tea hut rota, from an hour before it starts to an hour after it ends. If it won't open for you, add yourself to the day's rota or ask the club's admin for the Tea hut role.

Ring it up

Tap an item once for each one sold; the Total adds up as you go. Other amount is for anything not on the menu. Tapped the wrong thing? Clear starts again.

Take the money

  • Cash: tap Cash and the sale is recorded straight away.
  • Card by QR: a code appears on your screen. They scan it with their own phone and pay by card there. The sale is recorded once their payment goes through. Card payments start at 30p.
  • Tap to Pay on Android: tap the button with the amount on it and hold their card or phone against the back of yours. It shows Processing, then Paid. If it's declined, choose Card by QR instead, or take cash. Tap to Pay on Android needs Android 13 or newer.
  • On an iPhone: use Card by QR or cash.
  • Add to a tab: for a family who'll pay later. Pick the family, or start a new tab with a name such as "Patel family". Their tab adds up through the day, and they pay it once from the app.

Settling a tab

Under Open tabs, each tab has its total. Choose Settle by QR for them to pay by card on their own phone. On the website you can also choose Settle in cash.

The receipt

After a tap, Send a receipt opens your phone's own sharing menu: send it by text, email or however they like. It shows the club, the amount, the date and time and a reference, and never their card details. Families who pay in the app find every payment, each with its receipt, under Payment history.

If something goes wrong

  • No signal? Cash and tab sales wait on your phone and send when you're back. Card needs a signal.
  • Took the wrong amount? Once a sale has gone through, the till can't undo it. Tell the club's treasurer: they can refund a card payment from the club's books.
